AIGA AZ Town Hall – Board positions and application

Join our all-volunteer team
The AIGA AZ Board of Directors is actively looking to add new members to the team. We have exciting plans for 2016, and we need the help of talented individuals like you, from a variety of backgrounds.
As a 100% volunteer-based organization, we rely on the enthusiasm and dedication of the Arizona design community to fill every position. We need people in the following areas and roles, but if there is something you’ve been craving to do that doesn’t fit into these categories, tell us. We’re always actively looking for new ideas, activities, and ways to grow.
COMMUNICATIONS
Web Chair
Are you a fan of WordPress? Are you craving to try some things out that you’re not able to do at work? Well then, join our board as Web Chair.
We, at AIGA AZ, are continuing to convert our website to a new WordPress platform that AIGA HQ recently released, called iKit. It offers lots of possibilities that we have yet to tap.
At its core, the iKit is a plugin for WordPress, the content management system selected by AIGA HQ for its ubiquity and easy setup. Once a chapter enters its specifics, the plugin pulls in the content relevant to the chapter’s location.
Chapter Web Chairs can then customize the styles, colors, and fonts–you can even customize the entire theme if you want. So go ahead and complete our application and show us what you can do.
We are also looking for a few talented individuals to supplement our efforts in copy writing, photography, design, and social media. If you’re interested in helping out in one or more of these areas, please leave us your information below, or send an email to our Communications Director, Christopher Leone.
EDUCATION/MENTORSHIP
Education/Mentorship Chair
The Education/Mentorship Chair will work closely with our Mentorship Director Sheila Schumacher to create programs for teenagers, college students, and emerging designers. Everyone needs a mentor, especially our community of startup designers. So why not start paying it forward, and be our next Education/Mentorship Chair.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership Chair
Membership is the driving force behind all that we do. It provides both human and financial capital to our chapter. For most events, the membership team will be there to answer questions and recruit new members. The Membership Chair will work closely with Membership Director Kathy Karrys, and regularly collaborate with the President and Communications Director.
Thanks to our totally awesome design community, AIGA AZ just hit the 500-member milestone. We want to continue the organic growth that comes with providing a variety of high quality events and opportunities, so why not join the membership team now.
PROGRAMMING
Programs Chair
We are looking for a Programs Chair that can develop programs and events that will serve the greater Arizona design community. You’ll work directly with Programs Director Brittany Baker as well as the other directors to develop, plan, and coordinate events for our chapter. The Chair will play an important part in shaping the future of AIGA AZ’s programming. Apply now to the Programs Chair.
IN-HOUSE
Program Chair
We are looking for another In-House Chair that can develop programs and events that will help to build this community of designers. Director Marissa Groom and Chair Rudy Berk are just getting this initiative off the ground, and so the next Chair will play an important part in shaping the future of AIGA AZ’s In-House effort. Help AIGA AZ connect with more in-house designers. Apply now to be our Chair.
TUCSON COMMITTEE
The Tucson AIGA AZ group is one of the busiest and friendliest design crews you’ll ever meet. They are planning exciting things for 2016 and would love to have your help. Susan Seeley Roe is leading the effort. She is a natural born leader and always ready for fun. Apply now to join the Tucson Committee.
FLAGSTAFF COMMITTEE
Flagstaff is just getting off the ground, thanks to the efforts of John Gialanella. John is a Michigan native and a diehard Detroit sports fan. He also a Lecturer of Visual Communication at Northern Arizona University. Help John and you’ll be helping to shape AIGA AZ’s footprint in lumberjack territory. So pull on your boots, and help connect Flagstaff’s design community. Apply now.
Estimated time commitment for all the positions: 1-2 hours per week planning and 1-2 hours executing programs and communicating with the team; attendance at all monthly board meetings (approximately 2-4 hours per month); attendance at your events, and occasionally, membership drive events.
