During the week of July 14, James Archer, AIGA AZ Director or Mentorship and Jennifer Pace, AIGA AZ Mentorship Chair, kicked off the local chapter’s first design camp initiative for Boys & Girls Clubs. Teens in the program worked on a week long, condensed branding project revolving around the World Cup theme.

They worked as mini designers as they went through a branding process to come up with an identity for their own soccer team. The first day was full of brainstorming activities and logo sketches.

Next they digitized their logo and created t-shirt designs. We had a day full of photography and then used those photos in their poster designs.

Lastly they presented their projects to a panel of judges, to get a sense of how to “sell” their ideas.

The AIGA AZ board is excited to plan more design events for youth in the future. If you would like to get involved, email us at [email protected].

A big thank you to our volunteers:
