PHXDW 2023: Pre-Conference First Friday
Skip the long registration lines on Saturday morning and join us on Friday evening starting at 5:30PM to pick up your badge & bag during this casual pre-conference Meet ‘N’ Greet. Grab a drink at the cash bar, catch up with friends, get the lay of the land of the conference location, and enjoy a fun First Friday “Downtown Doodles” urban sketch walk with Chris Carls.
During the evening, we’ll gather everyone together at 6:30PM for an optional 20-minute doodling presentation with Chris, who will share perspective basics and techniques on learning how to see, along with some drawing tips in preparation for hitting the streets of Phoenix for a First Friday Urban Sketch Walk. Meet in front of the Museum entrance when the party ends at 7:00PM and head out down Central Avenue to see what we can see and create together!
Not planning to attend the PHXDW Conference? We’d love to see our creative community show up in person and get a taste of the PHXDW experience, too. Friends and family are also invited to purchase a standalone ticket to attend just this event; kids are welcome to attend for free with their parents.
BONUS FOR AIGA MEMBERS: Show your membership ID / conference badge for one free drink from the bar.

P.S. This mini-session is a teaser of Chris Carls’ “Hi! How Do You Doodle?” full breakout on Saturday during the PHXDW conference — a deeper dive into turning off your left side of the brain to release the creative right side, promoting mindfulness and allowing you to truly “draw what you see, not what you know”.
