We are seeking passionate, organized and reliable community members to serve as board members, committee chairs, and volunteers.

Many people imagine that becoming a board member of AIGA Arizona is a mysterious process. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Your AIGA Arizona board members are just regular people, most of them designers, who are willing to give up some free time to serve the design community. We’re asking you to do the same thing. If you’re ready to give back to your community, consider volunteering for one of the following positions:

Communications Committee – The Communication Team owns our website, social media, and promotional advertising for getting the word out. We have multiple openings on the Communications team:
VP of Communications – in charge of overseeing the committee, the overall communications strategy of the board and assisting in unique content development to live on social media and our website.
Other opportunities include Social Media Chair, Web (content management) Chair and Newsletter Chair, all focusing on their respective tasks for board communications. 

Programming Director – The Programming Director assists our VP of Programming to manage our events calendar and help events chairs and volunteers pull off our many events. They don’t execute every event, but they do help event teams stay on schedule, make arrangements, and sweat the details.

Sponsorship Director  – The Sponsorship Director fosters relationships with representatives of local, regional and national businesses as well as allied fields who service the design community to encourage cash or in-kind sponsorship of events or long-term sponsorship opportunities. So many invaluable connections to be made in this role! 

Volunteer Director – The Volunteer Director is the point of contact for community members interested in volunteering for the board, initiatives or events, particularly for our largest events of the year, Phoenix Design Week and CreateAthon. This Director assists in vetting interested parties and connecting them to the proper board members.

Committee Members – All of our initiatives need people who can help plan and execute. These are persistent teams of medium-term volunteers that serve under a Chair or Director and focus on one initiative.

Volunteers – While it’s very important to us to fill Director and Chair roles on the board, we know that sometimes your willingness to help exceeds your ability to make a long-term commitment. If that’s the case, we encourage you to serve as a volunteer. If you can work the door, help set up or tear down an event, make social media artwork or proofread, we’d love to hear from you.

Why should you volunteer for AIGA Arizona? AIGA is more than just a professional organization or a club. It’s a national network of the most passionate design professionals in the world. If you’re just showing up to events, you’re not getting the most out of your membership. Volunteering is the surest path to building relationships with design leaders, not just in Arizona, but all over the country. What’s more, our local board of directors are an insanely fun, diverse and passionate crowd of creatives. Lifelong connections are waiting for you!
