PHOENIX DESIGN WEEK BEGINS OCTOBER 21 – METHOD+MADNESS CONFERENCE BRINGS TOP DESIGN PROFESSIONALS FROM ACROSS THE NATION
PHOENIX, AZ (September 23, 2016)
Next month, Arizona’s design community will gather for its premier annual event: Phoenix Design Week. From October 21–28, 2016, Phoenix Design Week will bring together design professionals from across the nation to celebrate their craft, improve their skills and deepen the design community.
The eighth annual Phoenix Design Week will kick off on Friday, October 21, with a CreativeMornings Phoenix lecture in the morning and Opening Party in the evening. Then, attendees will enjoy the two-day Method+Madness Conference on Saturday and Sunday, October 22–23. This conference is the highlight of Phoenix Design Week, as well as AIGA Arizona’s largest annual event.
“Phoenix Design Week is the most anticipated event of the year for many local creative professionals, aspiring creatives and design community supporters. They look forward to it every October,” said Liz Magura, President of AIGA Arizona and the 2016 Phoenix Design Week Director. “A diverse group of national speakers have been hand-selected for the 2016 Method+Madness Conference, including AIGA’s new Executive Director, Julie Anixter. Additionally, we’re excited about celebrating local talent and hearing several Arizona creative professionals speak about their work and processes.”
The Method+Madness Conference also will feature a pop-up shop and a “Best of 2016” exhibit showcasing the work of local designers. A call for submissions for the exhibit will begin in mid September.
The week of events following the Method+Madness Conference celebrate design in every discipline and offer something for everyone. The events will be held across the Phoenix metropolitan area, including O’Neil Print Shop in Downtown Phoenix and BRIC, a new coworking center funded by ASU.
Phoenix Design Week will conclude with the National Poster Retrospecticus exhibit featuring 400 hand-printed event posters from 125 of the nation’s most prominent poster designers. The specialty poster will be created by one of Arizona’s very own designers, who will be revealed at the event.
